Tip of the Week: Short Foot

A while back, when I was working through some pain on the bottom of my left foot, a chiropractor showed me this simple exercise for strengthening the foot. It's called "short foot," and I do it all the time now. You can do it while you're doing dishes, doing laundry, brushing your teeth—anytime you're barefoot on a clean surface. Shrink the foot, pause for a few seconds, and release, for stronger feet and fewer injuries. Watch this video to see how it's done

Running Routes: North, Northeast, Columbia River, and more

Marine Drive Bike Path

The Marine Drive Bike Path runs along Marine Drive. The path is an open hard-surfaced path with a great scenic feel as you run right along the Columbia River. Heading east on the path is especially rewarding because you get a great view of Mt. Hood as you follow the river directly towards it. You can almost imagine that the summit is your end goal. (Visualization not for the faint of heart.)

Grant Park

Grant Park is located on 33rd and Tillamook. It is a terrific tree-filled city park with trails that loop around. On many afternoons you may catch athletes from Grant High School running their own workouts.
